Essential oils

are oily substances found in the roots, leaves, stems, or flowers of aromatic plants, also in the bark of some trees such as Pine, Fir, Cinnamon, or the peels of some citrus fruits. A complex mixture of up to two hundred and fifty chemicals, these fragrant substances, synthesised in plants by the energy of the sun are extracted by the ancient process of steam distillation with the exception of a few citrus oils which are obtained by cold expression, and by chemical extraction for Rose or Jasmine
